On December 22nd, 2022, Marc Peter Spahn fell from a horse during a training accident and shattered his right knee. His dream to qualify for the FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha USA which he had been working on for the whole season, was gone.

Although walking and weight bearing was not allowed, on February 22nd 2023, he rode in the Swedish Gothenburg arena! This was thanks to incredible willpower and perseverance and with the help and support of all the people around him, especially his wife Ykje, retired surgeon Harry Voesten and physiotherapist Martijn Hofman.
